A DFM review evaluates a part design to confirm it can be manufactured efficiently, consistently, and at scale. The focus is on reducing production risk, controlling cost, and avoiding late-stage design changes.
At Industrial Custom Products, our Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review helps OEM teams identify risks, inefficiencies, and cost drivers before tooling is built and production begins. The goal is simple: make sure your part can be produced reliably, repeatedly, and at scale.
OEM teams often come to ICP for DFM review when:
Our DFM reviews are grounded in how parts are actually made and how they perform in the real world.
A DFM review is a practical check on the manufacturability of your part. This service works best after initial CAD models are created and before final drawings are released.
We look at how your part will be formed, trimmed, cut, assembled, handled, and shipped. That review helps surface issues like:
Catching these issues early avoids redesigns, delays, and rework later when changes are far more expensive. More importantly, DFMs help to ensure a successful product launch.

We review material selection and fabrication methods to confirm they align with performance needs and production goals.

When changes are needed, our engineers provide clear, practical recommendations to improve part quality and production efficiency.

Rapid prototyping allows teams to confirm fit, form, and function before committing to tooling or full production.
Industrial Custom Products has a long history of producing precise, innovative and cost-effective custom parts from a variety of industries. We are an ISO 9001:2015 Registered Company.

Crestliner is a world-class manufacturer of fishing, sport and utility boats used by both recreational and professional fishers. However, they were running into a problem that threatened to put a stain on their glowing reputation - consoles were cracking. And it wasn't just once or twice. It was enough that they saw a huge spike in warranty claims.
They needed a solution, and they needed it yesterday. That's where ICP stepped into the picture.
Fully-formed and impact-resistant consoles
Short lead times for production
Fulfilled order backlog quickly
A DFM review evaluates a part design to confirm it can be manufactured efficiently, consistently, and at scale. The focus is on reducing production risk, controlling cost, and avoiding late-stage design changes.
DFM review is narrower and more practical. It focuses on whether a design can be manufactured reliably, rather than exploring broad product concepts or market viability. It also can be done on existing parts, whereas product development is only early stage development.
To start with, our engineering team collaborates with your engineering team. Further into the process, we bring in sourcing teams and operations leaders to get a fuller picture. When possible, we also coordinate with your sales and customer service teams to identify current points of friction.
Including insights from all of these teams help us truly troubleshoot, to ensure an optimal end result.
After you submit your information, our team will review your response and reach out for further follow-up, typically via email. Submitting a request for quote does not bind you to anything – we take it as you reaching out to explore your options.
Please note this form is not meant for solicitations. Solicitations will be ignored.
We primarily work with OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), although we also work with ODMs (original design manufacturers) and OBMs (original brand manufacturers). Our clients span a wide variety of industries. You can explore our past customers and industries served in more detail on our industries page.
It depends. If you have drawings of what you are looking for, we can review and see if it is a good fit. If not, we can connect you with a design partner who can help.
