Custom Part Fabrication for Industrial Equipment OEMs

Custom Thermoforming and Die Cutting for Industrial Equipment OEMs

Industrial equipment components need to perform reliably across a wide range of environments, use cases, and production demands. Parts often must balance durability, functionality, and cost while supporting ongoing product updates and evolving customer needs.

ICP partners with industrial equipment OEMs to manufacture custom thermoformed parts and components.

When you partner with ICP, you get:

  • Manufacturing that scales with your organization
  • Design review focused on manufacturability and cost-effeciency
  • Consistent quality across production runs

Our full services for OEMs include:

  • Heavy gauge thermoforming and vacuum forming
  • Flexible material fabrication (plastics, thermoplastics, rubbers, and foams)
  • Die-cut gaskets using flexible materials
  • Manufacturability review and analysis

Our team works closely with OEMs to support new product development, model updates, and long-term production programs.

Why Thermoforming for Industrial Equipment Manufacturing?

Industrial equipment spans many applications, but common manufacturing challenges show up again and again. Components must be durable, repeatable, and manufacturable without excessive tooling investment.

Thermoforming is often a strong fit for industrial equipment because it produces:

  • Large and/or complex parts
  • Durable components exposed to daily wear and use
  • Lower tooling costs
  • Faster turnaround times

For many OEMs, thermoforming offers a balance between production efficiency and product durability.

Case Study: Crenlo Engineered Cabs

We created a fully customized solution for Crenlo Engineered Cabs to streamline their assembly process and reduce unnecessary prep work. Two of the key parts in Crenlo’s assembly process for one of their customer’s applications are their right hand and left hand skirts used on the cab assembly. These skirts are made out of TPO (Thermoplastic PolyOlefin) and mounted onto a truck which is then painted and baked in an oven.

ICP proposed a newer material from Simona-PMC that includes a directly paintable and bondable film layer in order to alleviate the prep work prior to painting. When the customer receives the parts, they simply do a quick alcohol wipe to clean any potential surface contaminants off prior to painting.

Project results:

Major reduction of labor costs

Faster production time

Improved cosmetics and durability

Engineering Support and Review for Manufacturability

ICP doesn't design products from scratch. Instead, we do something more valuable for OEMs.

Our engineering teams actively review existing designs to identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, material selection, durability, and cost. This review can apply at the part level, assembly level, or across an entire product section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Injection molding is well suited for high-volume, smaller, and highly complex parts. Thermoforming is often preferred for larger components, lower volumes, or simpler designs.

ICP helps OEMs evaluate the tradeoffs between tooling cost, part price, volume, and long-term production needs to determine the best manufacturing approach.
