Superior Capabilities and High-Quality Tooling

ICP houses the latest machines with computer-controlled heat technology. This means faster cycle times, more consistent material thickness throughout, and higher quality parts that are aesthetically pleasing.

We also use both shuttle and rotary formers that allow us to handle sheet sizes up to 8’ x 10’ and thicknesses up to nearly .500” thick.

ICP offers a broad range of tooling options to meet your needs and budget. From wood tooling to water-cooled cast aluminum tooling, we have you covered from prototypes to production.

Thermoforming vs. Injection Molding

Thermoforming holds many advantages over other processes including injection molding. Some of these advantages include:

  • MUCH lower tooling costs
  • Shorter tooling lead times
  • Faster product development (rapid prototypes)
  • Cost-effective production of large parts

Thermoforming

  • Flat sheets of thermoplastics are heated to a pliable temperature, then molded to a tool shape using suction from a vacuum.
  • Final pieces can be hand trimmed or trimmed with a multi-axis CNC.
  • Lower tooling costs & shorter lead times.
  • Very cost-effective for lower-volume and larger parts.

Injection Molding

  • Thermoplastic pellets are heated to a liquid and then injected into a mold.
  • Final pieces are removed from the mold.
  • Higher tooling costs & longer lead times.
  • Very cost effective for high-volume parts with a longer life cycle.
